The Abstract series is built with high-quality 100% recycled paper and printed with soy inks, leaving a light footprint. Be inspired to ask the right questions, connect the dots (even when they’re really far apart), and keep pushing humanity forward, so that tomorrow is always brighter than today.
The textured paper on the covers of these notebooks has the feel of an old textbook. With advanced lay-flat pages, they want to fall open, like a well-loved library book. Go ahead and see for yourself – these are the notebooks your most brilliant ideas have been waiting for.
The size is wonderful, and the muted cover stays professional while the inside cover is a perfect blast of science. I'm not a huge fan of the lined style; I wish I could choose to have just a dot grid, but the dot grid on top of the lines functions fine. The one thing that keeps this from being five stars is the paper quality for fountain/dip pen ink. I love writing with fountain pens and mixing that with a great notebook is the best - but when I use them in this notebook, the ink bleeds straight through the page and it feathers horribly. I'll keep using them with normal felt tip or ballpoint pens, I just with I could indulge with any type of writing instrument that I'd like.
Hi Kaitlin, I'm sorry to hear that, and for any confusion. We try to have detailed information available about all of our products. The link below has pictures of pen tests, etc. https://cognitive-surplus.com/blogs/news/pen-tests-on-the-new-notebook-paper We selected our paper with the intent of trying to have it be friendly for a variety of pens; while also having it be ecologically responsible. Since we are committed to using 100% recycled paper for all of our notebooks, each run of paper is a little different. Due to variations inherent in recycled paper there will be slight variations in performance. In general we've received positive feedback. We did testing before going with this paper supplier to make sure the performance was acceptable. We tested with ballpoint, flare pen, etc. My apologies for any inconvenience. All the best, Karl Cognitive Surplus
The paper takes ink well and its well bound. I've only had it a few weeks, but it seems like it will hold up well to time.
